Deck Frame Components
We would recommend fully framing the area using 50x100 or 50x150 timbers. Then run the joists at 600mm centres perpendicular to the direction that the decking boards will sit.
Secondly, brace the frame with noggins every 1200mm in the same direction that the decking boards will sit.
We would recommend 100 x 100 for the posts crosscut to the required length to give at least 300mm in the ground.
When fitting the boards we would advise allowing a 5mm gap between the boards as they will naturally expand & contract with the elements. Remember to overhang the 1st board slightly if you are intending to cover the framework with a fascia at the end the project.
